Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN): Corrections

We are actively recruiting Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN) for full-time, 13- and 26-week contract positions at state-operated adult correctional facilities located in the Central, Eastern, and Western Regions of Virginia. Your expertise and leadership will help ensure high-quality care to those in need.

These highly sought-after positions will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Successful candidates must be able to complete onboarding requirements and begin their assignment in accordance with the terms of their contract.

There is a premium rate of $43.20 for LPNs assigned to the Correctional Centers in Jarratt (Greensville) or in Capron (Deerfield). Candidates must commit to a 26-week contract, have at least one year of corrections experience, and be able to begin immediately. This opportunity is open to local and out-of-state nurses.

Job Details:

• Pay range is $36.00-$43.20 per hour
• 13- and 26-week contracts (with opportunities for contract renewals)
• Full-time schedules may vary depending on the facility
• Full-time, 36-hour schedules are available at select locations (three 12-hour shifts per week, including every other weekend) with 12-hour day shift and 12-hour night shift positions
• Full-time 40-hour shift schedules are also available at select locations (four 10-hour shifts per week)
• Mandatory online training and orientation are required before beginning the assignment

Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) License and Credentials Requirements:

• Current Virginia or compact LPN license
• Current CPR Certification, BLS – American Heart Association
• Current PPD

Primary Job Duties:

• Administer medications and treatments
• Provide health education and counseling
• Coordinate care with other healthcare professionals
• Monitor inmate health and maintain patient records
• Treat inmate health conditions and injuries
• Supervise nursing assistants
