We currently have multiple openings for correctional RN jobs in Columbia, SC, at multiple adult male institutions, including one with an infirmary and an inmate psychiatric care facility. Your expertise and leadership as a Registered Nurse will help ensure high-quality care for those in need, and you can expand your clinical background by working with a varied patient population. Whether you are a recent RN graduate looking to jumpstart your nursing career or have on-the-job nursing experience, we have opportunities for you to join our growing correctional nursing teams
The facilities are located in Richland County and are accessible from I-26 and I-20 via Broad River Road, within a commutable distance from surrounding regions, including Batesburg-Leesville, Blythewood, Chapin, Lugoff-Elgin, and Newberry.
Additionally, these correctional RN jobs in Columbia, SC, have a premium hourly pay rate that is significantly higher than the average rate for RNs in the Columbia area.
Successful candidates must be able to complete onboarding requirements and begin their assignment according to the specified schedule.
- Mandatory 3-week onboarding for orientation and training, first shift (8a–5p), weekdays, at the beginning of the assignment
Correctional RN Job Details
Pay: $50 per hour
- Full-time schedule, 36 hours
- Three 12-hour shifts per week, including every other weekend
- Day shift positions (6a–7p)
- Night shift positions (6p–7a)
- The night shifts for the inmate psychiatric care facility rotate to the infirmary
RN License and Credentials Requirements
- South Carolina or compact Registered Nurse/RN license
- CPR Certification, BLS
- Current PPD
- Medical-Surgical care is a requirement for the medical and psychiatric facilities at the affiliated correctional institute

Correctional RN Primary Job Duties
- Conduct health assessments and sick call for inmates
- Administer medications and provide treatments
- Provide health education and counseling
- Coordinate care with other healthcare professionals
- Supervise nursing assistants
